Today I was trying to run a livestream when I noticed people were complaining about buffering. I ran a speed test and, as it turns out, my upload speed is pretty slow, especially in comparison to my download speed. Co-ordinate to speedtest, my download speed appears to be betwixt 75-80 mbps, but my upload speed is closer i-1.3 mbps, with an occasional six+ showing up. The half dozen+ always drops back down once I get-go actually streaming over again. I am not actually testing my speed during the stream, since the test would probably be inaccurate, only I nevertheless notice buffering when I try streaming, and it's always back down to the tiresome speed when I try testing the speed again. This ultimately brings upwards ii questions for me: How can I become a higher upload speed, and how can I maintain information technology?

You will probably need to phone call your Internet service provider and negotiate this with them.
They usually advertise the download speed, proper name 'packages' afterward it, but the upload speed is ever in the fine print......that it'due south MUCH slower than the download speed. Depending on where y'all live and who your Internet access provider is, you lot may be able to negotiate for this. If you're renting your modem from them, be sure it'due south electric current hardware (and that you're really getting what you're paying for, even if it is slower than y'all need/want for streaming).
Be prepared for an 'package upgrade' though......

What's the rated upload speed you pay for from your Internet service provider? With the exception of certain business organization plans, download speeds volition always be significantly higher because that's usually more than of import to domicile users. Y'all take discovered one of the specific cases where upload speed (and consistency) is far more than important.
Showtime thing to check is that zippo else on your home network is chewing upward bandwidth. Plough off or disconnect all other devices and cheque your upload speed once more. You lot also need to bank check in that location's no background process on your PC chewing up bandwidth. Filesharing (obviously) and OneDrive/Dropbox (etc) are examples of programs which can saturate your uplink in the groundwork. Wait at the network usage nether the "performance" tab of your Task Managing director just to check you don't have whatsoever sustained data being sent from your computer.
If you're confident information technology's not something on your network, then it'south fourth dimension to expect at the options with the Internet service provider. Are they really providing the performance yous're paying for? Can y'all pay for a faster programme with a college upload speed? Await at your options in that location.
It's possible that the Internet access provider's link is getting saturated at peak times, which is the problem for you lot. If that's the example contacting them to complain about the poor operation would be the place to kickoff.
